Cajun Blackened Shrimp

A flavorful Cajun dish that transports you to Louisiana with every bite. This blackened shrimp recipe is spicy, vibrant, and packed with memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp by combining the paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Toss the shrimp in this spice mix until they’re evenly coated.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  3. Cook the shrimp in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until fully opaque, then flip and cook for another minute.
  4. Serve the cooked shrimp on a platter and garnish with lemon wedges.

Notes

Use a splatter guard while cooking to keep your stovetop clean. For a spicier version, adjust the cayenne pepper to your liking.
