Ultimate Caprese Salad

A colorful and flavorful medley of heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil dressed with olive oil and balsamic glaze, embodying the essence of summer.

Ingredients

  • 34 large ripe heirloom tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella
  • 12 leaves fresh basil
  • 23 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 12 tbsp balsamic glaze or aged balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt
  • 1 pinch fresh black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tbsp pine nuts, avocado, or prosciutto

Instructions

  1. Slice the tomatoes into thick slices or wedges.
  2. Prepare the mozzarella by slicing it into thick rounds or tearing it into pieces.
  3. Arrange a layer of tomato slices, followed by mozzarella, and tuck in basil leaves.
  4. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic glaze over the salad.
  5. Season with flaky sea salt and black pepper.
  6. Optional: Add toasted pine nuts, avocado, or prosciutto as desired.

Notes

Let the tomatoes drain for a few minutes to avoid a watery salad. Assemble just before serving for freshness.
