Sticky Honey Gochujang Chicken

A flavorful, sticky chicken dish with a spicy-sweet Korean sauce that brings comfort and joy to the dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 boneless chicken thighs (skin-on)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (grated)
  • 3 stalks of green onions (white and green parts separated)
  • 2 tbsp gochujang paste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the chicken thighs using paper towels. This helps the skin get crispy while cooking. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the grated garlic, gochujang paste, honey, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil until smooth.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of oil. Once hot, add the chicken thighs, skin side down, and sear for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Flip the chicken to cook the other side for another 5 minutes.
  5. Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken thighs. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low, simmering for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and allow the sauce to reduce slightly, about 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Just before serving, toss in the white parts of green onions for an extra layer of flavor.

Notes

Serve over a bed of rice or quinoa and top with reserved green onions and sesame seeds. Substitute chicken with tofu for a vegan option.
