Grandma’s Apple Cake

A nostalgic apple cake that warms the heart and brings back sweet memories of family gatherings.

  • 23 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare your apples by coring and slicing them thin.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients in a medium bowl: flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry mixture with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  7. Fold in the sliced apples gently.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
