Boeuf Mijoté au Vin Rouge avec Polenta Crémeuse

A hearty French stew featuring tender beef slow-cooked in red wine, served with creamy polenta—a true comfort food experience.

  • 1 kg beef (preferably chuck or brisket)
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 300 ml beef broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 250 g polenta
  • 100 g Valtellina cheese
  • 50 g butter
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef by cutting it into large chunks and browning it in a pot.
  2. Sauté the onions and carrots until soft, then add crushed garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Deglaze with the entire bottle of red wine, letting it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Combine the beef back in with the broth, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper; stir well.
  5. Slow cook the stew covered on low heat for 2-3 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Prepare the polenta by boiling water, then whisking in polenta and cooking until thickened.
  7. Add butter and cheese to the polenta, stirring until melted and smooth.
