Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes

A cozy twist on classic Sloppy Joes with a spicy Cajun kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Sauté the aromatics: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until they’re tender and fragrant.
  2. Add some flavor: Toss in the minced garlic. Sauté for another minute, just until the garlic becomes aromatic.
  3. Brown the chicken: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Spice it up: Stir in your Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in the tomato sauce and mix everything together. Allow it to simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the milk. Let it simmer for another few minutes to heat through.
  7. Add the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until it’s melted and gooey.
  8. Toast the brioche buns until slightly crispy.
  9. Assemble by placing a generous scoop of the chicken filling onto the toasted bun tops, then cover with the bun bottoms.

Notes
