  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 42 ounces cherry pie filling (2 cans)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (add more as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla and almond extract.
  4. Mix the flour, salt, and other dry ingredients in another bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing it or using parchment paper. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom.
  6. Layer the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  7. Add the remaining dough crumbled over the cherry filling.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  9. Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  10. Glaze the bars once cooled, then cut and enjoy!
