Kohlrabi Fritters

Deliciously crispy and tender kohlrabi fritters that are perfect for a cozy meal. A nostalgic recipe inspired by family traditions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated kohlrabi
  • 1/2 cup grated onion
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the kohlrabi and onion by peeling and grating them.
  2. Mix together the grated kohlrabi, grated onion, flour, egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Heat enough oil in a skillet to cover the bottom about 1/4 inch over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the batter in portions, flattening slightly with the back of a spoon.
  5. Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Drain on paper towels and season with extra salt.

Notes

For a vegan alternative, replace the egg with a flax egg. Serve with sour cream or a yogurt dip and garnish with fresh herbs.
