Ingredients
Scale
2 tbsp Mayonnaise
1 tsp Mustard (divided)
2 tsp Dill Pickle Relish
2 tbsp Ketchup
1/2 lb Ground Beef
4 slices Rye Bread
2 slices Muenster Cheese
2 slices Cheddar Cheese
1 small Onion (Sliced thin)
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce (divided)
1 tsp Red Wine Vinegar
2 tbsp Butter
Pinch Salt
Pinch Pepper
Instructions
Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ½ teaspoon of mustard, dill pickle relish, and ketchup. Set it aside.
Mix the Beef Seasoning: Combine the ground beef with the remaining ½ teaspoon of mustard, ½ teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, pinch of salt, and a dash of pepper. Gently combine.
Shape the Patties: Divide the seasoned beef into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
Cook the Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
Sear the Patties: In the same skillet, cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, adding Worcestershire sauce when flipping.
Toast the Bread: In a separate skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium-low heat and toast the rye bread until golden and crisp.
Assemble the Patty Melt: On toasted bread, spread a layer of special sauce, top with a patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of bread.
Grill the Sandwich: Return the sandwich to the skillet, pressing down and grilling for 2-3 minutes per side.
Slice and Serve: Once grilled, slice the sandwich diagonally and serve.
Notes
Serve with crispy fries or a simple green salad. Pair with extra pickles.
