How to Freeze Peaches

A comprehensive guide to freezing peaches to preserve their sweet summer flavor.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Peaches (about 4-6 medium peaches will yield 4 cups of sliced fruit)
  • Lemon Juice or Ascorbic Acid (optional, to prevent browning)
  • Plastic Freezer Bags or Airtight Containers
  • A Sharp Knife and Cutting Board
  • A Large Bowl for Water (if using lemon juice)
  • A Baking Sheet (optional for flash freezing)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare your peaches by gently washing them under cool water.
  2. Slice each peach in half, remove the pit, and slice them into wedges or cubes.
  3. Prevent browning by mixing 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of sliced peaches and tossing them gently.
  4. Flash freeze the peach slices on a baking sheet for about 1-2 hours (optional).
  5. Pack your peaches into plastic freezer bags or airtight containers, leaving some room for expansion.
  6. Label each bag or container with the date and contents, then store them in the freezer.

Notes

Make sure to use ripe peaches for the best flavor. If your peaches are overripe, they can still be frozen but cut out any bad spots.
