Meaty Texas Trash Dip

A comforting and flavorful dip perfect for gatherings or game days, packed with meat, cheese, and Tex-Mex spices.

  • 1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chilies
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Chopped green onions, sliced jalapeños, diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro for garnishing
  • Extra shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook your ground beef or turkey until browned (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. Add Taco Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Mix in Refried Beans: Add the refried beans, stirring until well combined.
  4. Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: Mix in the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Incorporate the Green Chiles and Seasonings: Stir in the diced green chilies, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  6. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle in the shredded Mexican cheese mix and stir until melted.
  7. Bake: Transfer to an oven-safe dish, top with extra cheese, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Let sit before garnishing with green onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, and cilantro.
