Gâteau aux Pommes à la Normande

A heartwarming French apple cake, combining tender apples with a fluffy, moist texture, perfect for any occasion.

  • 4 Apples (preferably sweet)
  • 200g Sugar
  • 150g Flour
  • 3 Eggs
  • 100g Butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of Salt
  • 50g Almond Flour (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them thinly.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl.
  4. Cream the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  6. Combine the dry and wet ingredients gently until no dry flour is visible.
  7. Add the almond flour, if using, and fold it into the batter.
  8. Fold in the apple slices carefully.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and level it out.
  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool for 10 minutes in the tin before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
