Old-Fashioned Peach Jam

A delightful and nostalgic homemade peach jam recipe that captures the essence of summer, perfect for spreading on toast or jazzing up desserts.

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 package (1.75 oz) pectin
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prep your peaches by washing them thoroughly and peeling them.
  2. Chop your peaches into small pieces to measure about 4 cups.
  3. Combine the chopped peaches, lemon juice, and water in a large pot.
  4. Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the pectin and stir for 1-2 minutes until dissolved, then add the sugar.
  6. Boil for 1 minute while stirring constantly.
  7. Test for doneness using the cold plate test to check if it holds shape.
  8. Jar the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  9. Process jars in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes to seal them properly.
  10. Cool the jars on a kitchen towel for 24 hours before storing in a cool, dark place.

Notes

Adjust sugar levels to taste. Can mix in other fruits if not enough peaches are available.
