Hearty Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

A comforting dish reminiscent of family gatherings, featuring savory hamburger steak with rich flavors.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 unit onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 unit egg
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the mushrooms and onions in a skillet over medium heat until soft and fragrant (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Mix the ground beef, sautéed onions and mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  4. Shape the mixture into 4-6 patties.
  5. Sear the patties in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side (optional).
  6. Arrange the patties in a greased baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
  7. Pour the beef broth over the patties.
  8. Add shredded cheese on top (optional).
  9. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 30-35 minutes until cooked through.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
