Le Goulash Hongrois Traditionnel

  • 500 g beef (cubed)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tomatoes (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper (for a hint of spiciness)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the cubed beef to the pot.
  5. Cook until browned on all sides, about 7-10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle in the paprika, stirring it around as it blooms in the heat.
  7. Add the diced bell pepper and chopped tomatoes. Stir to combine all those beautiful colors.
  8. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  9. Season with salt and pepper, adjusting to your taste.
  10. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it gently simmer for about 90-120 minutes.

Notes

Feel free to personalize your goulash with additional ingredients like chickpeas or a dash of hot sauce. Serve with crusty bread or over egg noodles.
