Halloween Muffins and Decorated Cookies

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk for frosting
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl: milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together.
  5. Scoop the batter into muffin liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Prepare the cookie dough while muffins bake, rolling and cutting into spooky shapes.
  9. Bake cookies according to the dough recipe until edges are golden, then cool completely.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk for frosting until smooth; add food coloring as desired.
  11. Frost the cooled cookies and add decorative sprinkles for finishing touches.
