Homemade Cherry Pie

A delightful cherry pie made with fresh-picked cherries that brings back memories of summer.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine fresh cherries, sugar, cornstarch, salt, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Roll out your pie crust and place it into your pie dish.
  4. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
  6. Top with a second pie crust or cut slits in the top crust.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes.
  8. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
